When Words Become Life

The power of Bible translation is truly remarkable, and it can transform people’s lives in ways we cannot fathom. The team’s dedication to finding the perfect rendering of Galatians 2:19 was not just a mere task, but a passionate pursuit to help their fellow Bantayanon understand the freedom found in Christ. When they finally arrived at a clear and concise translation, a wave of joy washed over them, knowing that their efforts will make a significant difference in the lives of many.

But the impact of their work extended far beyond their expectations. During a Bible study in Madridejos, Pastor Cesar’s translation brought tears to the eyes of the police chief. It was the first time that he heard the Word of God in his language, and he was overcome with emotion, grateful for the opportunity to fully comprehend the message. His heartfelt words, “there is no need for explanation, we can clearly understand what we heard because it is in our language,” were a testament to the team’s tireless efforts and the transformative power of Bible translation.

The team’s unwavering commitment to their work is nothing short of inspiring. They are positively impacting people’s lives, bridging the gap between language and understanding, bringing hope and healing to those who need it most.

Bantayan Island is a beautiful island in Cebu with 95,000 population. While 85% are Christians on Bantayan Island, they are still a people group living without their own Bible. During the lockdown in the Philippines, translators were unable to continue with their work, which heavily impacted the Bantayanon translation project. The translation team also had limited resources when it came to their daily needs and income for their families, which brought about another set of challenges. See the story of the people and their journey of Bible translation.
